EQUIPMENT DIRECT, INC JAPANESE MINI-TRUCKS - WHY WE ARE THE BEST CHOICE IN A MINI TRUCK PURCHASE - The K-Cub story Despite elaborate websites, our competitors in Alaska are individuals who have bought a few trucks and are selling out of the back of their house. They were not in the equipment business a year ago and they may not be a year from now. We have been in the equipment business at the same location for the last 9 years. We were in the excavation and surveying business in Alaska for many years before that. Our heavy equipment business is built on trust and if you would like we can supply long term references. We are on the ground in Japan just about every month of the year to hand select our equipment. Others get whatever some middle man provides. We pay a premium price in Japan to have a Japanese dealer run them through his shop for inspection and servicing before they leave Japan. We also go over them in our shop using our own mechanic before they are offered for sale In general, our competition is selling trucks in worse condition and with higher mileage. They may quote you a base price that is lower, but their price on each individual truck varies widely depending on mileage and age. With us, for a specific model truck you can pick whichever serial # you want for the same base price. Once you figure out exactly what you want, we can provide a specific quote on a specific serial # vehicle equipped the way you want it. For an equal quality product, I don’t think we will be beaten. Good questions to ask a dealer before you buy: How long have you been in the automotive or equipment business? Is your business located in a commercial property or a private home? What is your primary source of income, do you do this as a hobby? Do you have a shop on your premises and what are the business hours? Do you have a professional mechanic? What is his background to prove he is a professional? Is being a mechanic his primary source of income? Are you licensed and bonded as an Alaskan motor vehicle dealer ? Are you associated with a certified Japanese auto dealer or some middle man? When was the last time someone from your company personally went to Japan to purchase equipment? If you claim to provide a warranty. Does your company provide it or is it a third party internet type warranty open to all. What repair facility will they work with in your area? Please provide some reverences that can prove how you stand behind your equipment. You claim to provide parts. What is your supply of tune-up parts and filters. What repair parts have you actually ordered? What do you have in stock? Can you provide an aggressive quote on shipping to bush communities based on your relationships and volume with the barge and air cargo services? Or do you get the walkup rate? Can you set up a truck for winter operation? Bottom line is that we may or may not cost a little more. In the long run, if you want professional quality products and service, we are the only choice.
